The Surprising Truth About Affordable Dental Clinics

Only one choice will deliver the results you deserve.

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there are multiple types of affordable dental clinics. That might come as surprising news, given the seeming rarity of low cost dental clinics. In fact, the US Department of Health and Human Services lists the following ways to obtain affordable dental treatment:

  • Local Health Departments

The HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) funds federal centers across the nation that provide medical centers and dental clinics for low income families. There is a sliding scale, however; so if you do not meet the requirements, you will be required to pay what is often a surprisingly high amount.

  • Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP

Medicare and Medicaid are included in this list, although they rarely cover dental procedures, and general dentistry is considered non-essential. CHIP, however, helps children up to age 19 who have no insurance, and a varying range of dental services is generally covered.

  • Local Resources

There may be state or locally-funded affordable dental clinics near you, according to the Department of Health and Human Services. It never hurts to look into it; there may be a cheap dental clinic around the corner!

  • United Way

The United Way has connections, and if there are locally-funded low cost dental clinics, they can give you information on them.

  • Clinical Trials

The US Department of Health and Human Services states, “The National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) sometimes seeks volunteers with specific dental, oral, and craniofacial conditions to participate in research studies, also known as clinical trials. Researchers may provide study participants with limited free or low-cost dental treatment for the particular condition they are studying.”

  • Dental Schools

This is the only category of affordable dental clinics that the HHS deems “quality” care delivered by “experienced” dentists. Whereas the other discount dental clinics are based on if’s and maybe’s, good dental schools offer even preventative care at greatly discounted prices.

The theoretical list is long, but the practical list is short. If you’re looking for a dependable, affordable dental clinic, look no further. Penn Dental Medicine’s Dental Clinic is the only clinic you can rely on to get the care you deserve, not just the care you need.

Don’t hesitate: call Penn Dental Medicine today and find out if you’re eligible.
