Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry, Primary Care Unit Director
Dr. Congiusta, Associate Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry, also earned her DDS from NYU (1987), joining the NYU dental faculty in 2007 as an Assistant Professor and becoming a Group Practice Director there in 2017. Among her scholarly activities, she co-authored various dental abstracts and served as Director of the D1 Multidisciplinary course.
A 1987 graduate of Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Maggio, Associate Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry, has been on the faculty since 1996, including having served as Director of Preclinical Dentistry, Director of Operative Dentistry, and the Director of the Advanced Simulation Laboratory as well as Preclinical Laboratory Director and Preclinical Group Leader.
Dr. Rochlen serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry and a Primary Care Unit Director in the Division of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After earning his D.D.S. from NYU College of Dentistry in 1986, he went on to complete his General Practice Residency at Peninsula Hospital Center in Far Rockaway, NY in 1987. Prior to joining Penn Dental Medicine, he was a Group Practice Director in the Department of Cariology and Comprehensive Care at the NYU College of Dentistry and a faculty member at the University’s Faculty Practice. Dr. Rochlen has taken part in various research endeavors as a co-investigator and has been an invited presenter at a number of conferences held by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
Dr. Lomangino-Cheung serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry and Director of Operative Dentistry in the Division of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After obtaining her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Chemistry degrees from Creighton University in 1983, she went on to complete her D.D.S. at NYU College of Dentistry in 1988. Dr. Lomangino-Cheung has been part of the NYU dental faculty since 1999, rising through the ranks to full-time Director and overseeing General Dentistry II (D2 operative dentistry), Preclinical Aesthetic Dentistry, D3 Advanced Operative, and Advanced Standing courses. She has also served as Co-Investigator of numerous research studies at Bluestone Research Center, NYU since 2014. A frequent presenter at the ADEA national meetings, she also holds a national office in ADEA. As Director of Operative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Lomangino-Cheung is in charge of overseeing instruction of both preclinical and clinical operative dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine.
Dr. Jensen serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry, Primary Care Leader, and Dental Director of Community Dental Care Center at Penn Dental Medicine. After receiving his B.S. from Temple University, he went on to earn his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1977. Upon graduation, Dr. Jensen joined Penn Dental Medicine as a Clinical Associate in Restorative Dentistry until 1985. Dr. Jensen returned to Penn Dental Medicine in 2007 and served as an Assistant Professor, teaching since then within the Department of Preventive & Restorative Sciences and serving as a PCU Group Leader. In his role as Primary Care Leader/Dental Director of Community Dental Care Centers, Dr. Jensen oversees clinical instruction of students in the community settings where Penn Dental Medicine students provides care.
Dr. Mayher serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry and a Primary Care Unit Director in the Division of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After earning his B.A. from Marquette University in 1974, he went on to obtain his D.M.D. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Dentistry in 1978. Upon graduation, Dr. Mayher joined the US Navy Dental Corps, serving as a Dental Officer from 1978 to 1981. Prior to joining Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Mayher held an Adjunct Faculty position at Boston University School of Dental Medicine from 2005 to 2017. He joined the faculty at Penn Dental Medicine in 2012 and has served as a PCU Group Leader since 2018. Dr. Mayher maintained a practice in general dentistry in Haddonfield, N.J., from 1985 until 2020.
Dr. Ierardi serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry and a Primary Care Unit Director in the Division of Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After obtaining her B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980, she went on to earn her D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. Dr. Ierardi also completed her General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1981. Prior to being appointed Assistant Professor at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Ierardi held various roles at Penn Dental Medicine within the Division of Restorative Dentistry, including Clinical Associate (2014 – 2017), Clinical Assistant Professor (2017 – 2019), Assistant Director of Comprehensive Clinics (2017 – 2020), and Instructor/Group Leader (2019 – 2020).
Dr. Hariton-Gross serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After obtaining her D.D.S. from Central University of Venezuela in 2000, she completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (A.E.G.D.) and Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan in 2005 and 2007, respectively. In 2010, Dr. Hariton-Gross earned her D.M.D. from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to join the faculty at the School, advancing from Instructor to Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry in 2012, before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2019. Prior to joining Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Hariton-Gross served as Assistant Professor Of Periodontology at Temple University, School of Dentistry, and Adjunct Clinical Instructor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry.
Dr. Robbins serves as Director of the Care Center for Persons with Disabilities, Professor of Clinical Oral Medicine, and Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. She obtained her DDS from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1987 and went on to complete a dental residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1988 and a fellowship in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1989. Prior to her appointment at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Robbins served as Chair of the Department of Dental Medicine at New York University (NYU) Langone – Long Island (formerly known as NYU Winthrop Hospital) and Chair of the Department of Family Dental Medicine at NYU Long Island School of Medicine. She is an attending at NYU Langone Health—Long Island and in the Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. Her most recent faculty appointments include Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Family Dental Medicine, NYU Long Island School of Medicine since 2019, and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, at NYU College of Dentistry since 2015. Dr. Robbins brings extensive experience working with special healthcare needs patients, having led the NYU College of Dentistry Special Needs Clinic as Director from 2002 to 2015. She is a Diplomat of American Board of Special Care Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. She is very active within organized dentistry, serving as the President of both the Special Care Dentistry Association from 2016 to 2017 and the American Academy of Oral Medicine from 2017 to 2018.
Dr. Henschel serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Community Oral Health at Penn Dental Medicine and will serve as Program Director of a new AEGD Program under development at Penn Dental Medicine. He obtained his D.D.S from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1986 and went on to complete his General Practice Residency at the Buffalo Veterans Administration Center in Buffalo, New York in 1987. Prior to his appointment at Penn Dental Medicine, Dr. Henschel was on faculty in New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry, serving as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine. During this time, he led the NYU Special Patient Care Clinic as Director and was Course Director for Clinical Management of Patients with Special Needs, as well as the honors program in Clinical Management of Patients with Special Needs. Dr. Henschel started teaching at NYU on a part-time basis in 1987, first as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral Medicine until 1991, and then as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine until 2015. Since 1989, he has maintained a private practice in general entistry in Forest Hills, N.Y
Dr. Risner-Bauman serves as Associate Director of the Care Center for Persons with Disabilities, Assistant Professor of Clinical Oral Medicine, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Restorative Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. After earning her DDS at the University of Iowa in 1993, she completed a fellowship with the Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities American Board Special Care Dentistry in 2011 and her Diplomate from the American Board of Special Care Dentistry in 2019. Dr. Risner-Bauman brings a depth of clinical care experience in public health settings to Penn Dental Medicine, most recently serving as a General Dentist in the Department of Surgery of Binghamton General Hospital, as well as Dental Clinic Supervisor of
Broome Dental Center within the New York State (NYS) Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. She has also served as Dental Clinic Supervisor for the NYS Department of Corrections, Tioga Dental Services, Cerebral Palsy and Handicapped Children’s Association of Chemung County, and the Chemung County Health Department. Dr. Risner-Bauman was previously appointed as Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry and General Practice Faculty Preceptor at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Katherine France is an oral medicine specialist and an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is the director of the Penn Dental Medicine Oral Medicine Clinic and teaches in the Personalized Care Suite. Dr. France specializes in the assessment and treatment of oral lesions, mucosal diseases, salivary gland abnormalities, and facial pain conditions. She also treats patients in all phases of general dentistry, concentrating on providing safe and medically appropriate care.
After receiving her DMD, Dr. France received her Certificate in Oral Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and Penn Medicine before joining the faculty as a full-time educator.
Dr. France was raised in Roanoke, Virginia, and currently lives in Center City where she enjoys running along the Schuylkill River Trail, cooking, and enjoying all of the excellent restaurants in Philadelphia. She is also an active volunteer for both her college and high school.
Dr. Nipul Tanna has a dual specialty. He is an Orthodontist (specializing to straighten teeth) and a Periodontist (specializing to improve your gums). He received his BS from Juniata College in 1986. He then matriculated at Penn Dental Medicine, receiving his DMD in 1990. After Dental School, Dr. Tanna completed Penn’s AEGD (residency) program in 1991, then remained at Penn as a Staff Dentist in the Faculty Practice.
In 1994 he accepted a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative & Preventive Sciences and engaged in the clinical supervision of Pre-Doctoral students as a Group Leader. In 1999, he accepted the additional role of Associate Director of the Faculty Practice. During this time he continued clinical teaching and practicing.
With a strong desire to pursue advanced dental education, Dr. Tanna enrolled as a fulltime student in both Periodontics and Orthodontics and received his specialty training in both specialties in 2010. Additionally, he also completed a Masters in Oral Biology in 2011.
In 2013, Dr. Tanna became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics. Dr. Tanna currently practices in the Faculty Practice at the Robert Schattner Center on 40th Street. He also teaches and is actively involved with several clinical research studies. He continues to maintain his active membership with the American Dental Association, The American Association of Orthodontists, The Academy of Periodontology, The Academy of Osseointegration, The American Association of Dental Research, The Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Philadelphia County Dental Society.
Dr. Chung is Chauncey M. F. Egel Endowed Chair and Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics Program. He served as President (2017-2018) and Director (2010-2018) of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Chung is a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. He has received numerous honors and awards. Dr. Chung’s primary research interests include craniofacial growth and development, dentitional development, diagnosis and treatment of transverse problems, rapid palatal expansion, early orthodontic treatment for young children and adult orthodontics. He has numerous research papers published in the refereed journals, such as The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, The European Journal of Orthodontics, The Angle Orthodontist, Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, and Seminars in Orthodontics.
Dr. Wenjing Yu is an Orthodontist and a full-time Instructor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine. She completed her D.D.S, Ph.D., and Orthodontics training at West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, China, in 2015. After that, Dr. Yu came to the United States seeking further education and finished her DScD and post-doc Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty training at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, in 2022. Dr. Yu is well-equipped with a broad array of orthodontic philosophy and clinical approaches, including traditional and self-ligating bracket systems, clear aligner systems, lingual bracket systems, and TAD-assisted orthodontic and orthopedic treatment. Dr. Yu is an American Board of Orthodontics Board-certified orthodontist and is actively involved in both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral clinical teaching. Dr. Yu is also active in research and interested in the biology of orofacial stem cells and the cellular response to orthodontic stimuli. Dr. Yu lives in a suburb of South New Jersey. She is a mom of a daughter and a son. During her free time, Dr. Yu enjoys sports, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Chenshuang Li is an Assistant Professor, and the co-clinical director in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She completed her Ph.D. training in Orthodontics at the School and Hospital of Stomatology at Peking University in collaboration with the UCLA Dental and Craniofacial Research Institute in 2016, and finished her orthodontic specialty training at UCLA School of Dentistry in 2019. Dr. Li is well-versed in a broad array of orthodontic clinical approaches, including the traditional edgewise system, TWEED philosophy, passive (Damon) and active (Speed) self-ligating brackets systems, clear aligner systems, TAD placement, TAD-assisted maxillary expansion, phase 1 treatment, orthodontic treatment with periodontal patients, and treatment of complex craniofacial patients. Dr. Li has a clear career goal and is eager to serve as an educator and clinician-scientist with an emphasize on evidence based, patient-personalized orthodontic care.
Dr. Hyeran Helen Jeon is an Orthodontist and a Full-time Instructor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine. She teaches undergraduate students and post-doctoral students. Dr. Jeon is an American Board of Orthodontics Board certified orthodontist (‘14) and Korean Board of Periodontology Board certified periodontist as well (‘08). With both backgrounds, Dr. Jeon specializes in early/adult orthodontic treatment, invisible braces, and Orthognathic surgery combined treatment.
Dr. Jeon is active in her church including the Church Choir and several mission trips. She likes paintings and can be found at Philadelphia museums on weekends. Dr. Jeon is very active in research and her research interests are Diabetes, Wound Healing, Angiogenesis, Bone Remodeling, Dental Implants and Tissue Engineering.
Dr. Sumin Lee is an endodontist and an Instructor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She teaches undergraduate students and post-doctoral students. Dr. Lee specializes in root canal therapy, trauma, internal tooth bleaching, and surgical root canal procedures.
After earning her dental degree from Chosun University College of Dentistry, South Korea in 2003, Dr. Lee completed her first postgraduate training at the Department of Conservative Dentistry at Chosun University College of Dentistry in South Korea, where she also received her Master of Science in Dentistry in 2006. She ran a private practice in South Korea for 4 years before joining the Penn. She received her certificate in Endodontics from Penn in 2012, where she also received her Doctor of Science in Dentistry in 2015. Her research interests include the biology of the dental stem cells, regeneration of the dental pulp, dental tissue engineering, and biomaterials in Endodontics
Dr. Karabucak is Associate Professor of Endodontics-Clinician Educator, Director of the Postdoctoral Endodontics Program and Director of Division of Advanced Dental Education. He is involved with endodontics courses/seminars in pre- and post-doctoral programs. Dr. Karabucak has been the attending endodontist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia since 2005.
After earning his dental degree from Istanbul University School of Dental Medicine in 1993, Dr. Karabucak completed his endodontic postgraduate training at the Department of Endodontics at Penn, where he also received his Masters in Oral Biology in 1998. He later earned his DMD degree from Penn Dental Medicine in 2002. His research interests include the cellular mechanisms of vasodilation and the inflammatory mediators in the dental pulp and outcome assessment of conventional and surgical endodontic treatment.
Dr. Karabucak lectures at national and international conferences, has published in peer-reviewed journals. He serves on the editorial advisory board of several international peer-reviewed dental journals. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and a member of the scientific committee of the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Setzer is an endodontist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He teaches undergraduate students and post-doctoral residents. Dr. Setzer specializes in root canal therapy, trauma, and surgical root canal procedures. He also specializes in internal tooth bleaching.
Dr. Setzer received his first dental degree from the Dental School of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany in 1995, where he also received his doctoral degree in 1998. He pursued his endodontic specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania after working for nine years in a multi-specialist private practice as associate and partner. Dr. Setzer graduated from the endodontic program of the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, receiving the Louis I Grossman Postdoctoral Award in Endodontics. He earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology and a DMD degree in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Setzer is teaching as Clinic Director and Assistant Postgraduate Program Director at the Department of Endodontics of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Setzer lectures frequently nationally and internationally, has published in peer-review journals and serves, amongst others, as the Associate Editor for Endodontics for Quintessence International and on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Endodontics and the Journal of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Kratchman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics at Penn Dental Medicine. He manages microsurgery in Endo, and has four private practices offices in Bryn Mawr, Paoli, West Chester, and Exton, PA.

Dr. Roopali Kulkarni is a board-certified oral medicine specialist. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and as Assistant Director of the postdoctoral oral medicine residency program. She treats patients with oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland dysfunction, temporomandibular joint disorders, orofacial pain conditions, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases. In addition to patient care, she teaches predoctoral and postdoctoral students clinically and didactically. Her scholarly activity focuses on research within oral medicine and public health.
“Dr. Akintoye is a clinician-scientist with interest in basic and translational research related to alleviating orofacial complications of cancer therapy. His research is focused on orofacial bone mesenchymal stem cells, site-specific characteristics and therapeutic applications as donor graft to bridge osseous defects in the maxillofacial region. His laboratory reported that human orofacial mesenchymal stem cells within the jaw bone are unique and different from those in non-oral skeletal sites in terms of their growth, lifespan and bone regenerative properties. He is studying the modulatory roles of orofacial bone mesenchymal stem cells in the pathogenesis of jaw osteonecrosis and how their unique properties can be harnessed for oral bone healing.
Dr. Akintoye is also interested in dental manifestations of metabolic bone diseases. He has focused on fibrous dysplasia and described the dental features of maxillo-mandibular fibrous dysplasia associated with McCune-Albright syndrome. Dr. Akintoye’s research has received funding support from the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and National Institute of Aging. He has also been funded by American Cancer Society, University of Pennsylvania Research Foundation, Penn Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders, Penn Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Private Foundations. Dr. Akintoye’s research was featured in the 2014 “Grantee Spotlight” of the National Cancer Institute/Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities and in the December 2015 e-Newsletter of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research/National Institutes of Health. Dr. Akintoye teaches in the Oral Medicine Clinic and in the graduate programs of the Division of Advanced Dental Education. He was a Fulbright Scholar to University of Lagos in 2015/2016.”
Dr. Meehan is the Chief Dental Officer and Assistant Dean in the Office of Clinical Affairs and holds an academic appointment as Professor of Clinical Oral Medicine. A retired Navy Captain, he held numerous educational leadership roles in the United States Navy Dental Corps culminating in his service as Dean of the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr.Greenberg has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Oral Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine since he completed a residency in Oral Medicine at Penn in 1968. During his career he has served as Chair of the Department of Oral Medicine and Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs at Penn Dental Medicine from 1988 to 2008 and Chief of Oral Medicine at Penn Medical Center. He has also been Chief of Oral Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and consultant in Oral Medicine at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.
His major research interests have included oral infections in immunocompromised patients, diseases of the oral mucosa and orofacial pain and he has lectured nationally and internationally on these subjects. He has been a co-editor and co-author of six editions of Burket’s textbook of Oral Medicine, a standard text in the field.
Dr. Chizobam Idahosa is triple-board-certified in Oral Medicine, Orofacial Pain, and Lifestyle Medicine. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Idahosa received her B.D.S. from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, and her D.D.S. from New York University College of Dentistry. She completed her General Practice Residency training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, followed by private practice as a general dentist in Pittsburgh, PA. Her training continued at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she completed her post-doctoral training in Oral Medicine and a Master of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Idahosa was a faculty member at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, where she taught and directed multiple courses for over seven years. Her clinical interests include orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders, oral mucosal disorders, oral oncology, and salivary gland disorders. When Dr. Idahosa is not teaching or in the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three beautiful daughters, traveling, going on nature walks, and writing articles on her Christian website.
Dr. Chang has been serving as the director of maxillofacial prosthodontics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and as the director of the PG Prosthodontics Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Before coming to the University of Pennsylvania, he served as the Head of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at Cleveland Clinic and the Learner College of Medicine, Ohio (2012-2017). From 2006 to 2012, he served as the Director of Pre-doctoral Prosthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2006, he held a tenured endowed chair professorship and served as the director of implant dentistry at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. Dr. Chang has been actively involved in research focusing on the areas of Head & Neck Cancer and Craniofacial Anomalies. This field has experienced rapid growth due to collaborative interactions between maxillofacial prosthodontists, surgeons, oncologists, basic scientists, speech and language pathologists, and engineers. He is particularly engaged in applying novel 3D digital technologies to surgical and prosthetic reconstruction and conducting outcome assessments of the quality of life and physiologic functions, such as speech, deglutition, and swallowing, for patients with head and neck cancer or craniofacial anomalies.
Dr. Hajishengallis is a Professor of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry and serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine. She completed her D.D.S. in 1989 at the University of Athens in Greece, graduating with top honors. She went on to receive a Master’s degree in Oral Biology in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999. Before joining Penn Dental Medicine in 2012, Dr. Hajishengallis served as the Chief of the Pediatric Division at the University of Louisville. Her area of clinical interest lies in the prevention of early childhood carries and growth and development of the pediatric patient.
Dr. Alina O’Brien is a board-certified pediatric dentist and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is also the Assistant Director of the Postdoctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program and teaches dental students and residents at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She additionally volunteers as faculty in the predoctoral Ethics courses at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
After receiving her DDS from Columbia, Dr. O’Brien received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident and received advanced training in providing comprehensive dental care for children. She worked in private practice in New York City before joining the Penn Dental Faculty Practice.
Dr. O’Brien resides in Philadelphia and enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, cooking, and reading.
Dr. Chang is an American.
Board-certified periodontist and pre-doctoral director in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He mentors undergraduate students and post-doctoral students with multiple research projects.
Dr. Chang specializes in treating periodontal disease with surgical and non-surgical approaches, including pocket elimination, soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening, and esthetic cases. He also specializes in bone regeneration procedures, soft tissue grafts and dental implant therapy.
Dr. Chang comes from Taiwan, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2008 at Chun Shan Medical University in Taiwan and graduated with honor. After receiving his DDS degree, Dr. Chang completed the training in general dentistry in Taiwan and a senior Periodontal fellowship at the University of Washington. He also completed his specialty in and Doctor of Dental medicine (DMD), Periodontics, and Master in oral biology at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Chang lives in Philadelphia. He enjoys fine dining, scuba diving, and traveling.
Dr. Kang Ko is a periodontist and a full-time Instructor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He currently leads an NIH-funded research program studying stem cell biology, wound healing and inflammation in the oral cavity and mentors pre- and post-doctoral students in clinical/research settings. Dr. Ko’s clinical expertise includes resective and regenerative periodontal procedures as well as implant dentistry.
Dr. Ko received his DMD from Penn in 2015, graduating with Honors in Research among other recognitions such as in teaching and in clinical periodontics. He further pursued specialty training at Penn and received his certificate in Periodontics and Doctor of Science in Dentistry from Penn.
Dr. Ko lives in Philadelphia and enjoys experimental cooking with new ingredients in his spare time.
Dr. Jonathan Korostoff is a periodontist and an Associate Professor-Clinician Educator in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise are periodontics and the surgical aspects of dental implant therapy. In addition to seeing patients at the William Schattner Center of the Penn Faculty Dental Practice, Dr. Korostoff is an attending periodontist in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
As a participant in numerous courses at both the pre- and post-doctoral levels, Dr. Korostoff lectures on a broad variety of topics in both the basic and clinical sciences. He is also a clinical instructor of periodontics and implant dentistry as well as the director of the Master of Science in Oral Biology Program. Dr. Korostoff is involved in research studying the causes of periodontal disease, evaluating materials used for bone grafting procedures and testing novel loading protocols on dental implants.
Dr. Korostoff is a native of New York having grown up on Long Island but has lived in Philadelphia since he arrived here to attend dental school. He is passionate about traveling especially to places that have either snow-covered mountains or beautiful beaches.
