Have you been looking for a Spanish-speaking dentist? If so, you’re not alone!
After conducting a survey to determine the language preferences of our Penn Dental Medicine patients, we discovered that 6.25% have a preferred language other than English. And, of the non-English languages our patients speak, Spanish ranks highly. This is no surprise, considering that according to Visit Philadelphia:
At Penn Dental Medicine, we want all our patients to feel welcome and comfortable speaking their native language. For this reason, we proudly provide accommodations for patients seeking a Spanish-speaking dentist.

Trying to find a dentist who can communicate in a foreign language, let alone accommodate a same-day appointment with Spanish speaking dentist, can feel like an uphill battle. But, not at Penn. Here, we understand the challenges that come with trying to find a qualified, convenient dentist willing or able to speak your language.
According to one study about language barriers in healthcare:
While language barriers are a top concern, the consequences of not having routine dental visits are also problematic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), untreated tooth decay affects 10% of children and 26% of adults (aged 20-64) in the U.S. Periodontal disease is also a concern: A CDC study reports an estimated four in ten adults aged 30 years and older have gum disease.
Avoiding dental care poses risks to non-English speaking patients. That’s why we prioritize access to the highest quality, affordable, comprehensive dental treatment for our Spanish-speaking (and other foreign-language speaking) patients.
At PDM, we provide sign language and foreign language interpretation for 66 different languages—including Spanish! And, we accept most types of dental insurance plans.
