When people discover they need dental treatment, they ask questions. “What exactly will the dentist do?” “Will it hurt?” “How long will it take?” “How far do I have to go?” And for many patients, perhaps including you, the biggest question is, “How much will it cost?”
Finding an affordable dentist in Philadelphia is an understandable concern. As elsewhere, the lack of access to affordable dental care in and around Philadelphia means too many people aren’t in good oral health.
In 2022, a majority of U.S. adults surveyed (55%) told the CareQuest Institute they experienced some type of oral health problem. Yet “[m]ore than half … did not seek care, and one-quarter of them did not seek care because they could not afford it.” Indeed, 27% of respondents who hadn’t seen an oral health provider in the past two years “cited cost as a reason.”
But at Penn Dental Medicine (PDM), we’re making affordable dentistry available to more patients in and near Philadelphia.
PDM is the teaching clinic of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, one of the nation’s oldest, most respected dental schools. Our third- and fourth-year student dentists offer high-quality dental services, using advanced techniques and materials. They work under the supervision of experienced faculty. And services cost a fraction of what they would in most private dental offices.

PDM can be an affordable dentist in Philadelphia because we offer these and other services with an educational focus.
Students in our predoctoral and postdoctoral clinics perform treatments that assist them in their educational track. Our faculty work side by side with student dentists to ensure you receive the best care possible.
At PDM, we accept a variety of payments, including cash, check, and credit card. We can also submit dental claims to dental insurance plans, process Medicaid, and receive money orders.
When patients need a payment plan, we accept Care Credit, a dental and medical loan company. Care Credit provides 24-, 36-, 48-, and 60-month fixed-rate installment plans, as well as a six-month no-interest plan.
Are you ready to find out how you can become a PDM patient? Call us at 215-898-8965 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) or schedule an appointment online for your initial examination.
During your examination, we will record your dental and medical history to determine if you are eligible for our patient program. During your examination, we may or may not provide an oral cancer screening and take X-rays of your mouth.
If you are eligible, we will bring you back for a thorough examination, and then create appointments to complete your treatment.
