When seniors are missing one or more teeth, implants can be a long-term, even permanent solution. But placing a tooth implant in the mouth is sometimes simpler than fitting what dental implants cost into a fixed and limited budget.
Do you need affordable dental implants? The procedure can be costly. Replacing one tooth costs $3,000–$4,500, on average. A full set of implants could cost as much as $45,000. Dental implants “are a lifetime investment,” health journalist Anne Russell writes for Forbes, “and are priced accordingly.”
But is restoring your smile an option you can consider only if you can pay those prices? Not at all. Penn Dental Medicine (PDM) offers quality dental implants, made with state of the art materials, placed with professional, patient-centered care, and affordably priced.
As a teaching clinic of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, we at PDM distinguish ourselves by staying ahead of the curve and using the most up-to-date practices in the field.
Some of today’s most knowledgeable and experienced dentists directly supervise our student dentists, which ensures you receive expert dental care.
And because PDM is a dental school clinic, you can find affordable dental implants here. Our educational mission means we can and do deliver exceptional care to our patients at a discounted rate.
What tooth replacement options, specifically, do we offer? Here are three common types of dental implants that, at PDM, can be affordable implants as well.
Several types of implants can secure dentures. These implants provide “snap-in” denture stabilization to ensure the dentures stay in place. These snap-ins are flexible and can be taken out for cleaning and care. If you need a full jaw of teeth replaced but can’t afford implants for them all, this solution could work for you.
Unlike individual tooth implants, the dentures do not function exactly like your original, natural teeth. They require regular removal, cleaning, and, eventually, replacement.
But if you need affordable dental implants, implant-supported dentures could be the right choice for you.
Some implant systems use more permanent structures the patient can’t remove. A bridge—the structure of a full jaw of artificial teeth—can be attached to metal implants for a semi-permanent solution. These high-support systems range from screw-retained denture systems to zirconia tooth implants.
Bridges require less maintenance than implant-supported dentures. Patients don’t need to take them out to clean them. But bridges do have a limited lifespan, and may need to be replaced in the future.
Whether you need one or many teeth replaced, individual implants can be a viable option.
Your implant dentist will mount each prosthetic tooth on a titanium post embedded in your jaw bone. The implant stimulates bone growth, maintaining your natural bone structure in a way dentures and bridges can’t. Plus, you’re able to chew food with and clean your new teeth exactly as you would your natural teeth.
While individual implants are usually the most expensive option, they are a robust, long-term solution that will last a lifetime and save you money on maintenance and replacement.
Your implant dentist will carefully consider what would best serve your oral health when deciding which tooth replacement option is the best fit for you. They’ll also work with you to make sure it’s a good fit for your budget.
PDM accepts direct payments from most dental insurance plans, including all Medicaid plans offered to residents of Southeastern Pennsylvania. We also offer financing for patients who qualify.
